Snap Your Finger… Reignite Romance When Life Gets in the Way

OK so it might not be quite that easy, but it’s still not hard.

You can certainly liven up your predictable and often boring relationship.

How would you feel if you could Rekindle Romance whenever you wanted?

Wouldn’t that feel great knowing that when you feel stuck in your relationship with your guy that you could just snap right out of the rut?

You can, but it won’t just happen on it’s own.

Here are some suggestions how to do just that from Module 2: What He Means By “I Love You” of dating coach Michael Fiore’s online course “Make Him Worship You”

I paraphrased them.

And the examples I made up myself based on the concepts from the module.

So, here they are.

Action Steps to Keep the Romance Alive

1. Recreate Memories or Favorite Old Experiences

The object here is to place yourself in situations that you have identified make you feel closer and/or more attracted to one another than normal.

Remember from my email when I shared how I feel emotionally closer to my girlfriend on trips and when we’re around family.

So, any kind of trip, big or small and any get-together with family are two (of many) situations that re-spark the romance for me.

The point is to get away from the distractions of every day life so that my attention is primarily (or completely) on her and our time together.

Or spend time with her and family so that we create a feeling of unity.

For you, you must identify those situations or conditions that re-spark those close, bonding feelings. Then recreate them (as best you can).

Here are some ideas:

  1. Let’s say you notice when you and your husband (or boyfriend) do any chores or projects around the house you feel that you both love the feeling of working towards a mutual goal.

Find a (FUN) project that you both would like to do together.

  • Re-decorate the kids’ room.
  • Find a new couch and end tables.
  • Build or find a bar unit for the living room.
  • Plant a vegetable garden.
  • Prepare your favorite meal this Friday night together and watch a movie.
  1. Let’s say you’re like me. You seem to feel closer on trips. Find a cheap flight to a nearby city and stay two nights (or even one). Or drive at least one hour away to a nice hotel, resort or somewhere close to attractions that you like.

My girlfriend and I just booked a trip about an hour away for one night. The day of arrival we will visit local breweries or wine bars. The next we’re going to an amusement park for roller coasters.

The key is to BOOK it. Set it up. Don’t think. Just do. Or you will procrastinate.

  1. If you enjoy spending time with friends and family together then set up a game night and barbeque. Don’t have a barbeque? Then get catered food or just cook something easy that can be done in bulk. Ask people to bring games.

2. Stop Destructive Patterns

We all get stuck in routines.

It’s a part of daily life.

But it’s up to us to stop them and start something new and fun. Otherwise, we just get tired of being around each other and seek ways to hide to ourselves.

What’s the point of relationships if we just run from each other?

Here are some relationship-sabotaging patterns and ideas to stop them:

  1. Taking the same boring drive to and from church together.

Take the scenic route.

Stop rushing to get there and rushing to get back just to lull around and look at your phone and the TV.

  1. Tired of the same date night routine (movies and dinner)?

Find something new, unique and interactive. Just one time at least.

Go to an escape room, a dinner show (instead of just dinner), a speakeasy bar (my favorite), a symphony or play.

  1. Tired of sexless nights because all you do is watch TV but neither want to invest an hour in the whole sexual act?

Do one “favor” for one another. Each chooses one and you perform it on one another.

This has one positive side effect.  The focus becomes the feeling itself, both the physical feeling and the emotional feeling of being pleasured by your mate. This allows you relax and feel the release of built up stress.

Each feel pleasured and fulfilled because you are sharing, not just taking.

3. Be Spontaneous

Get out of the house. No making plans ahead of time.

Just think of something last minute that you know you’ll both like and leave.

(Of course, if you have children then the one thing you will have to plan is to get a baby sitter for a specified date and time.)

Choose any of the ideas from the previous sections of try out these:

  • Drive to the beach, perhaps even stay overnight.
  • Go to that restaurant you’ve both wanted to go to but have put off.
  • Go to a sporting event.
  • Slip away to a happy hour.
  • Do wine tasting or Italian class.
  • Ice skate.
  • Visit a winery or brewery.
  • Just drive out to countryside and enjoy the views.
  • Go horseback riding.
  • Dine or get a drink in a rooftop restaurant or lounge.

Just the act of spontaneity feels invigorating and you’re doing it together.

You need that escape from reality and daily responsibilities.

Live a little today.

Again, these ideas come from Module 2 of Michael Fiore’s “Make Him Worship You”.
